Gen-la Chokyi Dhakpa

It's very normal for human beings to be fragmented, to be un-unified, pulled away, it often seems like there is a centrifugal force acting upon us that pulls us away unconsciously from our higher intentions and aspirations.this could be thought of as splintered mind.. in this retreat, we will learn to experientially pull it all together for one purpose: to be present and engaged right here, to be easy with ourselves…to experience what it's actually like not be thinking about lots of different things- because when we're like this than we're no longer unified.

Samadhi, or concentration is here to unify everything toward a single goal or purpose-presence and interest, using our bodies, our minds, our hearts - all engaged with one pointed focus, not just the mind, but all of the different aspects of our being, united for a single purpose to be easy with and kind toward ourselves and others.

We will learn through these teachings and instructions to start with mindfulness practice using the medium of our breath and when we learn to do the mindfulness practice diligently and well, then as it matures, and especially if you can learn do it on retreat, then you can use it fully throughout your day. Through this process we will deeply bring intention and energy to our lives…this engagement of energy then will then bring joy, and rapt attention. With joy as part of the system, a gentle tranquility will emerge. These natural qualities and conditions of the mind are what leads to concentrated absorption…which is the resting platform for unwavering equanimity, and allow us to live our lives in an abiding sense of peace.

This retreat is focused toward the beginning to intermediate practitioner. The weekend will move through a series of gentle guided meditations with the aim of teaching and sharing with each practitioner how to bring focused joy into their lives through the simple act of paying attention to the breath.
